The Garhwal Himalaya Riding Mountain Biking is a wonderful experience. An expedition to bring out the explorer inside you. For Indian terrain mountain biking requires a good level of fitness for both rugged and rough roads. The balancing act is also very important which helps to climb steep pitches. Mastering the control fact also becomes a good confidence booster for a biker, especially on Garhwal Himalaya mountain bike trails where numerous surprises can always catches one unaware. Speed control is another thing that one has to keep in mind while riding the Indian mountainous region. Going uphill usually turns out to be more challenging so keep the speed control in mind too. Always alert in Garhwal Himalaya while on biking.

Cycling / Terrain

This itinerary allows for average daily distances of approximately 30-50 kms. This is designed to enjoy the cycling through the rural life and meet the people of Garhwal. The vehicle will accompany and en-route make stop for bottled water and juices for the cyclist. A nice way of sharing different experiences encountered on the way. The support vehicle will always travel behind the last cyclist. If you wish to take a break from riding wait at the side of the road and supporting vehicle will pick you up.

Weather

Post monsoon season (Sep – Nov) is a great time to be in the mountains. Sky is clear which means good views all around and also around this time evenings are not very cold. The days are sunny with temperatures hovering around (14 – 22 deg) the evenings start getting cold with the onset of October and nights are comparatively colder (6 to 14 deg) Please keep in mind that the above information is not exact and does not account for sudden changes. Whatever the temperatures and conditions rest assured we will be prepared to handle it with ease as we use equipment of very high specifications.

    Garhwal Himalayas – Mountain Biking

    Delhi – Mussoorie - Barkot - Harsil - Gangotri – New Teri - Rishikesh - Delhi

      Day 1: Arrive Delhi

    Upon your arrival at Delhi airport/ Railway Station our representative will be escorted to the hotel. Overnight stay in Hotel in Delhi. The New Delhi is the capital of India and it is the third largest city. In Old Delhi you will find many mosques, monuments and forts relating to India's Muslim history. The other Delhi in New Delhi, the imperial city created as the capital of India by the British. It is a spacious, open city and contains many embassies and government buildings

      Day 2: Visit- Delhi (Drive 170 Kms / Cycling Approx  - 30 Kms) 

    After having breakfast, full day you will be sightseen tour of New and old Delhi like Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, Red Fort, President House, India Gate, Jantar Mantar, Swami Laxmi Narayan Temple, Lotus Temple etc. Overnight stay at hotel in Delhi.

      Day 3: Delhi – Mussoorie (2005 m) (Drive 34 Kms / 01 hrs.) 

    In the morning transfer to railway station to catch train for Dehradun at 06:55 hrs. On arrival at Dehradun by 13:15 hrs, there you will be meet our representative, then you will drive to Mussoorie, Lunch at Dehradun. On arrival Mussoorie Check in hotel. During the night you can see the view of Dehradun imagine like a valley of stars of Sky. The Mussoorie is Rising as a horseshoe shaped foothill that overlooks on the one side, the great plains sweltering in their pestilential heat with the holy Ganges, oiling its way through slowly, sluggishly across them, on the other, the vibrant, magnetic, silhouette of the Himalaya, is Mussoorie where the mountains to gay and the nobility mingles with the elite, when they sojourn there for the summer, as they did in the past and as they shall continue to do so in the future. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.

      Day 4: Mussoorie – Dhanolti – (2286 m) (Cycling 28 Kms / 05 hrs.

    After having breakfast, we check our bikes and gear and set out on our ride. Today we ride for around 4 hours with pit stops & lunch break. Today’s ride section is through one of the finest mountain road as we pass Buraskhanda, Dhanaulti, We will be riding for a long distance on the ridge line with fantastic views on either side of the trail. Highlight would be the close look at some of the snow capped Himalayan giants like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Bandarpoonch, Chaukhamba (4 massifs) & Kedar peak. You will surely enjoy riding through deodar (cedar), Rhododendron & oak forest sections along the route. After lunch drive back to Mussoorie. Evening free time to Excursion the Mall, Camel Back, Library, Picture Palace. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

      Day 5: Mussoorie – Nainbagh (1115 m – 41 Kms

    After having breakfast, Cycling starts towards Nainbagh, along with River Yamuna, the beautiful Village.

      Day 6: Nainbagh – Barkot (2118 Mts - 50 Kms

    Mountain biking start towards from Nainbagh to Barkot, through Damta, Sarigad, Barnigad after reaching Barkot village. The village is situated on the bank of river Yamuna, coming from Yamunotri,. Overnight stay in hotel.

      Day 7: Barkot – Dharasu (1036 Mts - 51 Kms

    After morning breakfast starts cycling towards Dharasu, Picnic Lunch will serve you en-route. On arrival at Dharasu check in hotel. Overnight at hotel.

      Day 8: Dharasu – Uttarakashi  (1158 m - 46 Kms

    After having breakfast, start Mountain Biking towards Uttarakashi is a place to enjoy lovely views and take leisurely walks. If you want to explore what lies around, just take a walk to the Vishwanath Temple, located next to the main market. The temple is similar to the one in Varanasi.  Just close to it is the Shakti Temple, which has a large iron and copper trident. At some point of time, there were close to 365 temples here. On arrival at Uttarkashi check in at the fixed camps. Dinner and overnight.

      Day 9: Uttarkashi – Gangnani (2133 Mts-46 Kms

    After morning breakfast, start cycling to Gangnani. A little paradise offering peace and solitude surrounded by beauty and overlooked by the snows, is an ideal place for meditation. There are hot water springs. On reach Gangnani check in at the tent. Dinner and overnight at tent in Gangnani.

      Day 10: Gangnani - Harsil (2623 Mts-28 Kms

    After morning breakfast, start from Gangnani to Harsil, the beautiful sylvan hamlet with its winding shady roads, swinging conifers, sun-kissed mountains and scintillating Bhagirathi to add to its allure, charmed a British settler who introduced apple trees. You will be Picnic lunch on the way. After reaching Harsil, check in at fixed camp dinner and overnight stay at fixed camp in Harsil.

      Day 11: Harsil - Gangotri (3200 Mts-30 Kms

    After morning breakfast, starts cycling from Harsil to Gangotri along with Bhagirathi River. The gorge where the Jadh Ganga meets the Bhagirathi, heralding the approach of the Gangotri temple, the narrow, Bhagirathi ravine, dramatic and beautifully wooded, opens out into the Goddess Ganga stands on the right bank simple, but dignified in the valley of the gods surrounded by the majesty of the mountains, the beauty of nature . A valley flanked by jagged snowy peaks. Here is the start point of Ganga River source pilgrimage which attracts every year thousands of devotees. On reach Gangotri check in hotel. Dinner and overnight at Gangotri.

      Day 12: Gangotri – Maneri (2133 Mts-80 Kms

    After morning breakfast, start cycling to Gangnani. A little paradise offering peace and solitude surrounded by beauty and overlooked by the snows is an ideal place for meditation. On reach Maneri check in at the fixed camp. Dinner and overnight at fixed camp in Maneri.

      Day 13: Maneri - Dharasu (1036 Mts - 46 Kms

    After having morning breakfast, Start Mountain Biking from Maneri to Dharasu, Picnic lunch en-route evening reach Dharasu, check in and dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

      Day 14: Dharasu – Teri (1550 Mts-42 Kms

    After Morning breakfast. You get ready for cycling up to Teri the road begins to rise, winding its way along the Bhagirathi and passing through a fertile valley studded with patches of trees and clusters of small houses. Here the Khuromla meets the Bhagirathi and the roads to Teri. The New Tehri is newly established township is the districts headquarter of Tehri Garhwal, Situated on the bank of Bhagirathi, the town is surrounded by well developed terraces from Bhatwari to Pauri while forests of birch and pine cover the steep hill sides. In this romantic town are palaces, temples built by the old rulers. From the places only 11 Kms. From Chamba & 24 Kms. From Old Tehri, it overlooks a massive artificial lake and a Dam. It will soon become an important centre of attraction on the completion of the dam). Overnight stay at the hotel.

      Day 15: Teri – Rishikesh (372 mts / 76 Kms

    After Morning breakfast. You get ready for cycling. On reach Rishikesh check in hotel.

    Later in the evening you will walk to witness the Arti ceremony at Parmath Ashram situated across the Ram Jhoola suspension bridge. Parmath Niketan lies right on the holy banks of mother Ganga, nestled in the lap of lush, towering Himalayas. Overnight stay at the hotel.

      Day 16: Rishikesh – Delhi (By Train) 

    After Morning breakfast you will visit the Swargashram. Its founder Swami Vishudhanand was also known as Kali Kamli Wala (one with black blanket). It is one of the oldest ashrams in Rishikesh today and is a very vast organisation embracing many activities. Later drive 25 kms to Haridwar for Lunch. After lunch visit Haridwar town The Gateway to the Gods. One of the most revered places in Haridwar, Har ki Pauri literally means the Lord’s Footsteps. The most famous land mark at the Ghats is the footprint of Lord Vishnu himself. The foot print is said to be at the precise location where the River Ganges enters plains from the mountains. On time transfer to Railway Station to board the train for Delhi. On arrival Delhi our representative will assist you and transfer to the hotel or Airport.
